Yuma Ballet Academy – Newsletter

April 21st, 2008

Thank you to all the parents, family and friends who turned out for the Academy’s spring class observation day. I hope the experience was both informative and enjoyable. We will see all of you at the Academy’s end of the year performance, Etudes & Excerpts on Saturday, June 7th.

Academy T-shirts are here!

If you ordered an Academy t-shirt and/or decal, please pick up your order at the front desk. If you missed out, I did order a few additional pink child shirts and adult black tanks. If your size is not available, I will do a second order depending on the number of requests. Again check with Donna to pick up your order, purchase one of the extra shirts or place a new order. (We will return checks/payments if we don’t meet the 2nd order

required).

Level 4 Ballet:  This week (Friday 4/25 and Saturday 4/26) you will have the opportunity to have 2 master classes with Ms. Rochelle Zide-Booth. The Friday class meets at your regular time 6:00-7:30pm and then an extra class on Saturday 10:00-11:30am. Don’t miss this!

Special invitationSaturday, April 26th 7:00pm at the Yuma Arts Center

All Academy dancers are invited to a FREE showing of “Ballet Russe”. Rochelle Zide-Booth, internationally known dance educator and former prima ballerina, will be on hand for an open discussion when Ballet Yuma screens Ballet Russe at the Yuma Art Center, 7:00pm on Saturday, April 26.  There will be no charge for this event featuring the fascinating film about the historically important and influential ballet company for which it is titled.  Zide-Booth, a living dance legend who is featured in the film, will be in attendance, and at its conclusion will discuss and take questions regarding the movie, herself, and dance in general.

This event is made possible by a grant from the City of Yuma Arts and Culture Commission.

Placement and Registration for 2008-2009Your dancer’s class placement for the 2008-2009 school year will be available the last week in April. The class schedule will be posted and registration for current Academy students will take place May 5th – June 7th. Classes will then be open to the general public on June 9th.
