Emma M.K. Cong - Yuma Ballet Academy Teacher / Artistic Assistant,
Ballet Yuma

Emma is the mother of two children, Jacob and Lily Ann, and is married to Cam. She trained under the direction of Jon Cristofori and Kathleen Sinclair for eight years prior to attending Mesa Community College and then the University of Idaho. In addition to dancing at both institutions, her studies in college included Ballet, Modern Dance, Classical Jazz and Choreography. She also danced with Ballet San Joaquin in Stockton, CA. Upon moving back to Yuma in 1999, she began teaching Contemporary dance at Yuma Ballet Academy. Mrs. Cong was honored to have been selected to present pieces in Regional Dance America's Emerging Choreography Concert in 1988, 2000, 2003 and again in 2004. It was in 2004 that Emma was honored in the Pacific Region with the coveted Monticello Scholarship for her choreography, earning a full scholarship as an emerging choreographer to the Craft of Choreography Conference in Orem, Utah for an intense two week course. In 2005, her works were selected yet again by an independent adjudicator for Ballet Yuma to perform during the main program at the Pacific Region Festival in Washington. While there, she was honored to have been selected for the Tier One Choreographer Award, and earned a second full scholarship to the Craft of Choreography Conference.
